Mexican Independence Day

Mexico's Independence celebrations are approaching. If you've been reading the news, then you'll know that my country is in deep shit right now. Corruption, violence and narcotrafic have the nation in a state of panic and there is not much that can be done.
The only thing I can do for my country being so far away is support the Mexican community in London. Therefore, I want to invite everybody to celebrate Mexican Independence with me, or with whoever you want. London is our oyster (literally lol), so obviously there are going to be lots of incredible things going on.

This time, I only chose two places because those are the most 'Mexican' places I know. The rest are hmm.. not the real deal. Still good, just not Mexican enough.

On the 15th of September, Chilango, my favourite burrito place will have a Charity burrito eating contest. The tickets will cost 10gbp, but each includes a burrito and a drink, plus a ticket to a raffle. And don't forget you also get the opportunity to compete and eat as many burritos as you can. Tip: Use hot sauce...lots..
All the money will go to the NSPCC, which is great.  It makes me so proud to see people from my community wanting to help. So now you know, but a ticket eat a burrito and I'll see you there.

Another one of my favourite London hot-spots for Mexican food is Mestizo. The staff is Mexican, the menu is Mexican and the huge collection of tequila at the bar is ALL Mexican.
It is no surprise they will be hosting a party, because they always do. Mexican people love to party lol.
There will be Mariachi music, and since the Independence festivities coincide with their 'food festival' there will be a selection of food from different regions of Mexico.
The day after, on the 16th of September, they will host something called 'Curate la Cruda', which roughly translates to 'cure the hangover'. Surely there will be beer and plenty of substantial food. Yum.
See you there!

Kudos Mexico! I love you! Xx
