Gucci's 90th Anniversary is around the corner!

The ever so famous House of Gucci is coming close to celebrating its 90th birthday. Founded in the 1920s by Guccio Gucci, the brand has now achieved full potential and is selling now more than ever. Ha, I suppose Guccio never expected for it to become so big!
So, for the anniversary, a lot of exciting changes have been made to some designs, in order to promote the anniversary and also to provide its customers with a taste of the old school Gucci. First of all, many designs have been brought back by Frida Giannini, the sole creative director for the company. Her ideas have brought back patterns and designs from different decades since the company was established.
One of the designs that has been brought back is the 'Gucci Web', which consists of three stripes in green and red, based on the equestrian roots of the brand. The diamante is another classic canvas that due to its simplicity, it has always remained as a classic. Some other classics that have been highlighted for the anniversary is the 'Horsebit' a very simple decoration that is now used not only in bags but also in keychains and other accessories, and finally the Flora, a classic canvas inspired by non other than Grace Kelly, after all there had to be a beautiful floral scarf for a beautiful princess.

Amongst other surprises, a new yacht for the brand has been made, and only the top celebrities, models and members of the royalty made it to the guestlist of such a high class event.

I can't wait to see what else is planned for the anniversary, I guess it will just be amazing.

Gaga time travels.

Nothing is really what it seems.  Lady Gaga, who has clearly become one of the most iconic characters of our culture has surprised me once again. Since the beginning she has always been one step ahead. Her skimpy outfits, combined with her catchy tunes and the collective histeria she creates are what make her 'unique'.
I am a big Lady Gaga fan, I think she is just brave, she is always attempting some new and weird things that most of us would never even dream of doing, and she has proven that she is here to stay.

The shocking moment of my day, was discovering that 'Telephone', the famous song she performs alongside Beyonce is a cover from a Beatles song with the same title. As soon as I heard the Beatles version, never ending images of Gaga came to my mind, and everything started making sense.
After today, I don't think she is a trend setter. I do believe however that she is creative enough to recycle old songs and styles, combining them with 21st century popular culture. This is what I call genius.
I wish there were more people out there who were doing new things, but unfortunately the closest we can get to originality is Lady Gaga. She is pretty amazing, and I can't blame her for seeking inspiration in other decades and music styles, after all nowadays it's all been done and it is difficult to find originality in a society saturated with copy cats.
Anyways, here is the Beatles version. Listen to it and judge by yourselves.
Xx Dylan.

Being a Drifter.

Hello,
To those of you who don't know me, (which probably makes more than half of the globe's population), my name is Dylan, and yes I am a girl.
After studying journalism I realised what a big mistake I made. The truth is that it sucks to be a journalist. It is almost impossible to get a job in the media industry unless you know somebody, who knows somebody. And the pay is crap.  So, when I discovered the wonders of 'citizen journalism' I decided to join the enemy. Here I am, writing a blog...
To be honest, being a journalist was my life dream; to travel, to learn, to write... it all mixed together in such harmony, but of course, a lot of bitter journos passed their bitterness to me.
How couldn't they be bitter? We live in a society where important and simple things have been left aside, only to be replaced by cheap gossip columns. I SAY NO MORE!

Just to be clear, this blog is not about complaining. It is about sharing my favourite things in life forgetting all the 'journo rules'. This is my little space to show what I like about my life, and other people's lives. I love to write and I am not going to let my resentments towards my profession stop me this time.

The way I'm going to do this is the following:
Everyday I will post a new blog entry about something that has caught my attention. Most of the time it will be about music or fashion. But also it could be about movies or simply popular culture.
I hope that if anybody reads this, it will make them smile, because so far that is my only purpose. There are far too many dramatic situations in the world to try and complicate our lives even more. Let's enjoy the blogging and blabbing!
xx
