PlaneClothing

Every freaking year we are forced to buy Xmas gifts for those we love. It's not that I don't love my relatives and friends but they are so hard to buy for! If you consider that most of them are men, I am condemned to buy ties and after shave for life!
Story of my life... buying everything last minute and then expecting for things to go well.. It never does!
So this year, I have found the answer to all my Xmas problems and it's called Plane Clothing.

Gerry is a lovely chap who also happens to own PlaneClothing. The brand is based in East London, with Gerry being the main man creating all the designs and handmade prints.
Plane Clothing's designs are mainly places in London. This makes it highly appealing for people like me, who love London but also love industrial-looking garments. In the past, Plane Clothing has collaborated with the Science Museum and other independent retailers (pow wow!) I only say this to give you an idea of how cool the designs actually are. In my eyes, if you collaborate with a museum as a designer, you are halfway there.

See it for yourself.

If you want more Plane Clothing, you can visit their website planeclothing.co.uk , or find them in Brick Lane's upmarket every Sunday or every Friday in Spitalfields.
Want to check out more designs? Join them on twitter  @planeclothing and facebook to receive more updates of upcoming projects. They also have a tumblr with wicked pictures of their designing process.

Search no more, buy some hoods and tshirts and forget about the Xmas hassle.
tshirts are 20 quid a pop while hoods and sweats go for 40 quid. not bad eh?

Reiss' Pieces

Winter has arrived...argh. I know the official date is not until late December, but truth is, Londoners are freezing.
This morning I have pretty much spent it digging deep in my closet, getting all my proper winter gear out. Coats, scarves, hats and wool are all out on display in what seems the biggest pile of winter stuff ever. Back at home in Mexico I never used to have 'winter clothes'; my warmest item was an old Pull and Bear sweatshirt. I would wear it more when I was hangover than when it was cold...

For years now, I have been 'recycling' my winter clothes. Coats can be expensive purchases so every few years I give my closet a pick me up, but lately I have given up. Until this morning, when I realised that my coats were in desperate need of dry cleaning and I lost half of my jumpers and cardigans to a moth plague in late August... sigh...
So I went to Reiss in Camden Passage, as you do, and I was enchanted with their beautiful garments. When it comes to looking nice and classy, Reiss will never let me down. (cos i'm such a classy lady innit) Yes I usually have to save for ages, but it's worth it, especially when it comes to winter clothes.

Winter colours are my favourite because I feel they are easier to mix and match. Not that it matters nowadays, I mean London is full of 'Wall Safes' or people whose combination you just can't find. However, I am too OCD to leave my house looking like a chameleon.

Dark green is a must right now. You can wear it with pretty much everything and use it day or night. This coat is super Duchess of Cambridge, so if you're into that stuff put it on and strut your stuff near Buckingham Palace.

One Word: chess.
This coat is an outfit in itself. No need to over do it. Pop some nice earrings and bold heels.

Jacquard coat

First of all I love the words 'seafoam blue'. Is it like mint green but less minty? A coat that feels like a blanket but is stylish enough to wear is definitely up my street. Anybody else feeling like a 60s vibe? Wearing this on a cold winter morning on the way to work might be the answer to all your problems. Stylish and cute, soft and comfortable. That's what a girl wants.

It's not all about coats. Winter is a good time to stock up on some essential accessories. Belts, clutches and bags are good investments. Plus, it's Xmas soon so if you have a wishlist it's always good to add a couple of essentials. My theory is that Summer clothes tend to be a bit more trashy, because it's hot and for some reason people really get into beach bags, cleavages and organic materials. Winter on the other hand is all about layering, therefore whatever you buy will most likely be re-used next season. i.e. Shirts, cardigans, fitted trousers.
A black belt with metal work is always useful. A jeans, flats and plain shirt outfit can be instantly pimped by wearing a stand-out belt.
Doesn't have to be too crazy. Sometimes less is more..

I am not one of those handbag-obsessed ladies. Well, we all say we aren't but if I was as rich as Victoria Beckham I would probably be saying something different. Selfridges would be my home.. sigh..

I do believe it is good to invest in a good handbag every once in a while. By good I mean not buying my standard 40 quid handbag using my flatmate's student discount. I mean spending a good couple hundred quid in something nice and durable.
This Reiss handbag is perfect for the season, and in my humble opinion it's a very classic design, making it wearable for a long time. One day this handbag will make a great vintage piece.. granddaughters behold!

A clutch to add to your wishlist. Pink and Green, it kind of reminds me of a perfume bottle, but better.
Clutches make good weapons too. Most of them are heavier than you'd expect so if anybody is crossing the line, hit them with your clutch. Always stylish always safe.

If it's worth buying, do it!!!!
Or ask someone else to buy it for you!

Song of the Day. Weak Become Heroes

I have a theory about The Streets. You listen to their music non-stop for weeks, and then you stop... And then you start again...
At least that's what I do. Right now, I just can't get enough, ha too many memories of too many good nights. Also a lot of bad days but hey,  that's The Streets. It's the struggle, and the fun that comes with it..

So..
weak become heroes..

West End Lane Books. Magic.

Magic. That's what happened to me when I walked inside West End Lane Books.
It's been a long time since I have seen/been in a decent bookshop, in fact it's hard to find any bookshops at all.. and that makes me angry.

This place is like discovering a new world. Life's problems disappear, and suddenly you are free. Surrounded by books, floating in literature..

The shop has been located on West End Lane (duh), in the beautiful and ever-so-charming West Hampstead since 1994. Their vast collection of imported titles and children's books makes West End Lane Books my favourite book shop in London.
Their poetry section is definitely worth a visit, and like most independent shops they ENJOY engaging with their customers. I hate those big book shops where it seems as if you are in a book mall rather than a shop. I hate the feeling of having to walk three sets of stairs just to find a book, and I hate that in those places you never know who works there! It's like being alone in the Sahara of books.. argh!

Everybody at WEL Books is incredibly friendly, I mean they are a lovely bunch who also happen to know what they are talking about. Their suggestions are always so good!
Be sure to visit their website and twitter @WELBooks  to find more information about their Story Time on Mondays and Thursdays, and their Book Group!

Let's support independent shops in London! These are the places that bring charm and beauty to our city peeps!

Before We Freeze...

Let's have a cup of tea!

I'm a big tea drinker, but I prefer coffee... Anyway, it doesn't matter because it's freezing and any living soul would appreciate a warm beverage right now.(I love the word beverage, it sounds like a word Mary Poppins would use!).
It is really cold in London. I mean, not like we are going to freeze and die, but pretty close. It's only early November, this is not Canada!!!
Currently I am a recluse living off tea, coffee and someone's biscuits... Venturing to the kitchen for warm beverages (hehe) made me realise that half of my mugs are all chipped, my kettle looks like it belongs to the Flintstones and I definitely need to buy a better tea selection..

The truth was hard to take in at first, but after putting on a coat, I went outside.
And then I came back and here I am...

Paperchase is the best stationery ever! But, they also have cute mugs :)

And a Kenneth Cole mug because.. why not?! There is a whole series of them available at House of Fraser.

If you're into colour, this will boost your winter into colour overload! Plus, everyone gets to pick a mug, kind of like owning your piece in Monopoly, you know we all do it..
