Kudos Chris Brown! (Say What?)

Feelings of guilt are surrounding me and goosebumps cover my skin. I hate to admit it, but Chris Brown has had quite the comeback.
I don't want to start talking about his personal issues, as they should be kept in the past. I do believe people deserve a second chance after all.
Chris Brown came out of the darkness with his very heated 'appearance' in Good Morning America, where he was not the nicest. The rest is history..
Things have not been very easy. Since his encounter with the law, Chris had to keep a legal distance from Rihanna, this stopped him from being able to perform at award shows and festivals.
His new song, Yeah 3x has become a huge success and his performance of the same song at Dancing With The Starts the other night, truly deserves a standing ovation. This makes up for all the past mistakes.
He does not only prove that he is talented as a singer and dancer (yes, he didn't sing live at DWTS but who can with such a tough and active dancing routine?) but he also proved to everyone that ANYBODY can come out of the hole to start a new beginning.
I am however, quite confused with the whole 'Bad Boy' attitude; baggy jeans, tattoos everywhere. I mean, we are talking about someone who has a very sweet singing voice, and although he is not very gangster, I suppose his violent past has provided him with a marketing scheme that seems to be working brilliantly.

Judge for yourselves, this is Chris Brown at DWTS:

Kudos Chris! Keep the good work!

Calling All Coffee Lovers!

Hi!

The London Coffee Festival is coming soon, and if you are a coffee lover like me, this festival is the place to be.
It will be taking place on the weekend from the 8th to the 10th April, which means that anybody who loves coffee will be there. The venue will be the Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane.

For all londoners who are coffee fanatics, this festival is a celebration of everything 'food and coffee', and it promises discovery, tasting and entertainment for all attendees.
Do not dispare if you don't live around Brick Lane. There will be various 'Festival Themed Zones' where ticket buyers can have different experiences depending on the zone they go to.

The first zone will be Hyde Park, where people can watch coffee being roasted, while you sit on the grass and sip some goodness.

Soho is the 'out of the box' coffee shop experience. If you are into baking, this is the right stop for you as there will be a workshop to produce hand made cupcakes and other delicious treats!

Shoreditch is the gourmet stop with a coffee art gallery, so it is worth showing up to see what is going to be going on.

The Hub is where the Espresso Martini Launch Party will be held on the opening night.

Last but not least, there is The Lab. A place where all of those curious minds can learn about the science of coffee and try new taste sensations. Sounds exotic right?

This event is completely charitable. 100% of the ticket sales will go to Project Waterfall.

Project Waterfall is a charity that delivers clean drinking water to coffee-producing countries in Africa.
The ticket prices are 8.50 pounds or 6 pounds for bookings of five or more and they are divided into brunch, lunch or tea time sessions, making it available for a bigger crowd at different times. Clever!

This is a win win situation. You get to try delicious food and coffee, you have a good time and learn new things, plus you are helping those in need who also happen to produce coffee!

A 'Stroke' of Luck..

Hi!

After five years of abscence, The Strokes are back. Their past five years have been spent meeting women, paying mortgages, and having external music and arts projects. Finally, the wait is over.
I was expecting this album to be a complete and total piece of crap, but it isn't! The Strokes are my favourite band in the whole world, but it is only inevitable for bands that have been around for a long time, to eventually screw up by making a terrible comeback album.

'Angles' is the title of this new project, which might as well be a sequel of their previous work. The sound of guitars mixed with Julian Casablanca's deep voice makes it all sound familiar. I am sure these new songs will be heard around music festivals this summer, so festival goers will be massively pleased.
The first single of the album is titled 'Under Cover of Darkness', and as it is usually done in Strokes style, the lyrics are short but sweet, talking about life yet bringing a lot of power to the song by using their unique guitars.
The video is pretty cool, the band are playing in what looks like an old theatre or mansion. What impresses me the most, is their ability to stick to the same fashion sense as they had five years ago, but evolving it. Yes, some of them cut their hair, but we can see the indie rockers they still have inside with key pieces such as sunglasses, jackets with studs and pairing up suits with converse shoes or chelsea boots. It is brilliant.

Look at the video, i'll let you be the judge. xx

Belts to pass the time..

Hi again.
I recently discovered how important belts are. I realised that a belt receives very little credit nowadays. Belts are after all, eternal companions of fashion trends, evolving, being recycled and constantly changing in order to make us look more 'trendy'. We never notice...
That is why I had to take on the chore of finding what is out there. That's what I do, you know that.
So, this is what I found.
Rejoyce..

This belt is from Topshop. It is made in chocolate leather and I think it is a great option to wear this season. Specially now that denim is back again. This belt is a simple twist to a classic skinny belt. It can be worn with jeans, shorts or even long shirts. It is all about being creative and making sure accessories help you reach that target of feeling 'trendy', which makes us feel a bit more confident.
The prize? 32 pounds

.

This is not a new belt, but I love it. This is a Gucci belt from the Fall/Winter 2010 collection. The reason why this belt is so special is because it was designed with one of the classic Gucci prints. The green and red stripes give a kick to any outfit, whilst keeping it classy and cool. It is better not to wear too many prints or accessories with this belt, as it might be too much, but I just love the shape of it and the buckle. Isn't it lovely? Too bad it is not cheap, but a girl can dream right? That's what blogs are for..

Last but not least is this belt from H&M. It is super cheap. This mint green belt only costs 6.99 pounds. It is perfect for the spring. It can be worn with any neutral tones of the season, and yet also be worn with colourful key pieces of the season. It is perfect. Go and buy it!

iGloo time!

Hi again.
My sister just had a baby. Yes, I am an aunt now. And, my cousin is pregnant and ready to pop out any day now. So, I've had to do some digging into baby land and see what it is all about. I have been looking at designers creating trends for little ones, such as Stella McCartney for GAP and I have also done some digging into what is 'cool' for parents now a days.
You know what's cool? iGloo is cool.
Igloo is not just a shop, it is an experience. Jeeezzz... i don't even have children and I love the freakin shop. I am like a little kid staring at the little pianos and the little toys. And of course, the little shoes.
I went to the shop located in Upper Street, Islington. As you know I'm an Islington guuurl.. I love my neighbourhood. Upper Street is pretty awesome too. It's located in the heart of Angel, so it is angelical!! hehe..

Anyhow, igloo has some really cool stuff to spoil your children or nephews and nieces. As I will do. I bought the following items for my new born nephew and the one that's coming...

The first one is this CD of Coldplay covers for babies. I know, it is a bit crazy, but it is only ten pounds and it is the first step towards my nephew having good taste in music. There was also one with Take That covers!! which one was I to choose? (I hate hate hate Take That)

The next thing I bought were some basic Bath Toys with galactic shapes. I am very galactic you know?

Finally, I bought a piano. A baby piano, if there is such thing. It was 60 pounds i think, but it was so worth it. It is tiny, and it is just... just brilliant!
Check it out, go to Igloo's Website and check out their stuff, even if you don't have children, it is a time killer for when you are at work, trust me, it will  bring you back to childhood!

Ring Ring.. because it rhymes with Spring!

Here is my pick of the best rings I have seen so far. The reason I chose to do this is because after being all covered through the winter, spring allows women to be a lot more creative with their accessories because at least they will be visible. I know winter fashion is very cool, but it is not exactly as if you could wear a beautiful necklace under that thick woolen coat could you? Some of you might disagree, but that is my opinion..
The Spring brings a lot more sun, which means a lot more rocks shall be worn to have them glitter in the sunlight.

The first one is from Topshop. I saw it online and it reminded me of a galactic spring fashion. It has a lot of colours, i know, but isn't it what this season is all about? Attract some attention, wear this ring. I Love It!

My next choice is from Links of London. It is not as cheap, costing almost 250 pounds, but it is pretty cool. It reminds me of last spring when navy trends were around and this ring makes me think of it. Those were good times..

However, finally I present you with a work of art. This ring is only 20 pounds, and well it is gorgeous.
It is a 1970s vintage jewellery piece that you can purchase at a website called 'Bejewelled Vintage'. I suggest you check it out because they have some very beautiful and feminine pieces.

That is all for now. Keep looking at new jewellery options and remember to try and recycle old pieces. If you have anything remotely colourful wear it. 'Tis the season to be daring!

ODDEE.com-Yeii!

Hi! I'm back..
I spent a few days away from the computer because my best friend was in town. I had a great weekend catching up and talking about old school memories, like when i wanted to be a red hair and it ended up looking orange or the time when we assumed fake identities while on holiday and we ended up having drinks with some random guys who were dazzled by our latin beauty, and after stealing all their booze we just went to her placed and partied until the early hours of the morning..
Oh memories...
So, we also showed each other cool things, because that is what best friends do, they compete sometimes to see who know the coolest shit around and gain some sort of feeling of superiority.
Anyhow, my friend showed me this website called Oddee.com which is pretty much.. amazing!
This website contains millions and millions of pictures and stories about completely random stuff such as the weirdest handbags and the most amazing apartments. It also has an amazing collection of pictures about people, like tattoos, funny faces, and even body implants!
The point is that I have a duty to warn everyone who reads this: This website is completely addictive!
Hours will go by and you will still be Amazed. I promise.

Check it out it's great! xx

This is a cinema that was transformed into an apartment

And check out this surrealism wallpaper

Or how about this mall in Warsaw, Poland

What I am trying to point out is that this website is a good source of information, i call it 'funformation' and yes, it sounds very silly, but it's true. I know there is a lot of you who are incredibly lazy, to the point of avoid reading a book or picking up a magazine. At least this website is like a wikipedia with a bit more pictures, so have a look at it, it's pretty cool.

Life is full of Joy

My best friend is coming to London today and I just could not be happier!
Since I have not seen her in AGES, I decided to go around Upper Street in London, to try and find some suitable memorabilia for her.
My first stop was JOY. This is one of my favourite shops in London because of the wide variety of stuff they have. It is the kind of shop that sells stuff that you would probably never buy for yourself because of how useless most of it is, but it is brilliant if you are looking to buy someone a present.
Even though it is not the cheapest, inside the shop you can find an infinite choice of clothes, bags, accessories, and all sorts of household items, such as photo frames with really trendy designs and accessories for your kitchen.
When you are inside JOY even the most difficult, fuzzy character will find something suitable, even if it is a PacMan alarm clock or a cupcake gift set.

 http://www.joythestore.com

My adventure did not stop there. Just a few doors away from JOY, you can find Cyber Candy, another one of my personal favourites. I have a sweet tooth, so clearly this shop is right up my street.
The selection of sweets goes beyond the imaginable, with brands from any possible country, including USA, Canada, Australia and even Japan.

I bought my friend some Wonka sweets and a few Japanese treats because she loves them.

I bought some pick a mix Jelly Beans for myself, so I can't complain.

Go and see it for yourself, again, this shop is quite pricey, but if you only select a few things you will be happy like a 5 year old all over again!

Ke$ha's Groove

Hey! Today, is Friday. I know a lot of people are out and about getting drunk and building memories with their colleagues. However, I chose to spend my Friday relaxing at home, listening to music.
Unfortunately after a while I got bored and ended up falling for the trap that is YouTube. Oh, it is amazing how you can jump from one video to another and suddenly, five hours have gone by,  and you are dehydrated, your eyes are watering and your mind feels toasted, you can even sense a smell of bacon in the air.. creepy.
I found this video of Ke$ha singing her hit song We R Who We R, and to be honest I like it. It is a mix with the hit 'Into the Groove' by Madonna.
You might think this would not work but somehow it does, and it is not bad at all. Besides from having a back track and Ke$ha singing ZERO, the mix is pretty good and would make a good tune for a chilled party playlist, like after a gallery exhibition when people are starting to get drunk and out of boredom start having awkward conversations with strangers who are as bored as they are. Kudos Ke$ha!!

Enjoy xx

The Little Milk Carton

Today was a beautiful day. It was very productive and even though it was cloudy and grey, I loved it. I took my dog Pancho out for a walk, but then it started raining. I went to the gym after and when I came back I was watching MTV and guess what I found?
BLUR. Well, I know a lot of Blur songs and even though I am not a massive fan, (probably because when they were famous I was in primary school) I love this video.
How can anyone not love this little milk carton? It is incredible, and if you think about it, this video was way ahead of its time. Right now it would probably be seen as a very creative work of art, but I am pretty sure back then it was just another video by a 'grunge band'. I love how critics assumed everyone was 'grunge' because of the Nirvana well, nirvana...

Enjoy!

Hello Kitty today

I saw this video and I had to share it, well I don't have any followers, but I needed for the world to see this beauty. A GRANDMA that has spent two years collecting Hello Kitty stuff and her house is Covered! I love this woman.
I am a massive Hello Kitty fan, however this is an extreme.
It is very nice though, because the video shows a brief background of the history of Sanrio as a brand. It's got me in tears!
I love Sanrio.. i love it, i love it, i love it!!

Loving some Primrose

The Primrose Bakery is just amazing. It creates the most delicious and decadent cupcakes in the whole world. Proven. I was there earlier this week and I just can't seem to have enough. The vanilla flavoured ones are incredible just because of their simplicity, but momma loves her some Malted Marshmallow Cupcakes. Oh my goodness! I had a bite and I was completely speechless. Every bite made me more and more silent, I think I even stopped breathing for a while.
Did you know they also sell giant cupcakes? It is like being in Heaven. Heaven of Sugar.
I already have my Spring plan all prepared. I will have a picnic, and definitely order some cupcakes from the Primrose Bakery to complete the full Spring experience.
Spring, Sun, Cupcakes. Doesn't get much better than that.
Check it out!

Polish Me In Colours

Today, it is all about nail polish. Long gone are the days when our mothers only used either red, pink or 'french'. Now, wherever you go, people are rocking these awesome, nail polish colours. Lily Allen was seen rocking a metallic grey colour, while other celebrities have chosen mint green, gold, and even bright yellow.
With the colour revival right around the corner, I had to do some research about where the best nail colours are. The answer is Models Own. The brand sells all kinds of make up, but their nail varnishes deserve a round of applause.
They just have EVERY POSSIBLE COLOUR.
From reds, to oranges, pastels, glitter, even greys and browns, they just have it all and they are the best. I recommend to always use a top coat after applying them, as they tend to be quite opaque, but they will not disappoint. They are affordable and cool.

Timex goes Back to the.. Future?

I have made another purchase and I don't feel guilty.
Look at my new acquisition, the Timex 80 Indiglo.
This watch is pretty much a vintage copy. Timex decided to re-release the same design as they used to in the 80s. They have come up with so many new colours and patterns that I just did not know which one to chose. OK, I am a liar, I chose pink straight away, but all of them were pretty awesome.
The price is very reasonable, not like other companies that just enjoy draining customers when it comes to special editions of products.
This watch is timeless, and it kind of makes me feel like in The Breakfast Club, but I suppose that is the whole point.

Admire their greatness and then go and buy one, after all one day you can give it to your grandchildren and say it actually was from the 1980s. Hehe

xx

Spring Where Art Thou?

Ok. Spring is supposed to be around the corner, but London doesn't seem to think so.
The weather has been absolutely disgusting, and I just can't wait for that day when the sun comes out at full beam, and all of us women living in London can succesfully pull off a cleavage without freezing to death. Kudos to those English women who can wear little to nothing on a night out... Kudos!
I am not English. I happen to be a Mexican living in England. That is equal to having a tropical fish in the Arctic sea. I hate the cold, I always will, that is why it cheers me up to start thinking about warmer days.

This year spring is full of colour, specially when it comes to fashion trends. The catwalk has offered (once again) a 70s revival. I hope everyone is conscious that from now on it will all be 'revivals', there is nothing new to come, unless designers decide to start making us wear trousers in our heads.
However, the colour boom is hitting hard, and everywhere. From high street to haute couture, designers and trend setters have decided to go crazy for colour.

Some of my favourite pieces have to be:
1. Lanvin orange flats.
Not only they are gorgeous and comfortable, the orange shade is extremely popular right now, plus they can be worn with just a pair of jeans and a white shirt and they will complete the look with their splash of orange!

2. Miu Miu bag.
Even though it is not bright, this bag is one of my key accessories for this season. The colour is very neautral, making it easy to wear with almost any combination. For a nice lunch out wear with a pair of killer heels in a skin tone, and pair it up with a nice necklace on a similar shade.
3. M by Marc Jacobs Sunglasses. What is a girl without shades nothing but a mere mortal? I saw these at Urban Outfitters, and I am only waiting for my last paycheck to arrive only so that I can make them mine. They are so cool and trendy, I love the kind of pink kind of purple mixture, it is like being back in the 50s all over again!

4. BFF topshop tshirt.
Every girl should have at least one tee of the seaso. It can have a picture of a cat, a phrase, a portrait of Marilyn Monroe, I really don't care, but a tee must be owned. T-shirts are a very personal thing you know? That is why there are sooo many different kinds, there is rock tshirts, girlie tshirts, tshirts with weird pictures and the list goes on and on and on, but truth is tshirts take a big part in who we are.
I identify different periods of my life with tshirts. ie: the strokes tshirt i still own after i bought it when i was 16 at their gig, my nikki beach tshirt after i went to St Tropez, and last butn ot least, my Star Wars tshirt that I bought a year ago after discovering I had no tshirts at all in my closet!

Anyhow, a tshirt is a life, or so I like to think. That is why this Topshop tshirt is 'adequate'. It has a white bold background with the word BFF written in a bright pink font. What's not to love?

5. Coral top from Topshop.
This top is my guilty pleasure, I would probably only wear it once, but it has to be worn. I know, I love orange, and this shade of coral is right up my street, but I have always been against dressing like a grandma. I love it love it love it. It is a style that drives me crazy. It is girlie, yet colourful and it makeds you look like a lady even if you are a crack whore, but I just refuse to impose a fashion so... old, on my young vital body. It is like wanting a pair of Louboutins but ending up buying the imitation ones... It just cannot be done!

Anyhow, those are my favourite designs so far. A lot of colour might cheer us up and distract us from the fact that Spring might just never come!!

xx

Revolution

I just quit my job. Even though everyone seems to be very disappointed because I couldn't last three months, I am ecstatic. I never have to put up with that selfish little midget again.
That is why, reading all these news about African countries fighting for their freedom has made me feel like starting my own Revolution of the Soul. A fight where the ones who survive are Ben and Jerry's and a villa in the caribbean.

For any of those things to happen I need to find a new job..

I have thought of a list of my favourite jobs, most of them are just fantastic trips on my mind, but a girl can dream right?

1. Museum Director of Fun

How cool is that?! After a six year old sent a letter to a museum applying for the position of director, the little one landed a position as director of fun!! If this was my job, I would definitely be working at the fashion and textile museum, having dressing days, make up days and of course cupcake days!

2. Private Island Guard

And there is people that do this for a living. Basically, a salary of 100,000 dollars for a six month contract. You just have to look after the property and write about it online to promote it!!

3. My third option is Food Critic

I know it does not sound as exotic as the rest, but being a food critic is something almost unachievable due to all the benefits. Not only do critics get to stay in the best hotels and eat in the best restaurants, they also have a reputation. Whatever they write can either benefit the establishment or condemn it forever, like in Ratatouie.

Sadly but truly, we live in a world where only a lucky few can enjoy the benefits of having a ridiculously cool job. I hope my future has something great in store for me. I am quite stressed, this is nerve wrecking!

xx
