Absence makes the heart grow fonder they say.
I am back, I've just been about, you know figuring out life. Sometimes one needs to step away from the computer (or phone for that matter) and take it all in. Go out, talk to someone, even if it's the Starbuck's guy.. Have an argument with a random cyclist who is close to running you over, buy some froyo. Sit in the park, do something. Go out..

So I followed my own advise and I walked and walked until my feet gave up and my Smiths playlist died...

Vingt Quatre 24 hour food

This lovely, small venue is located in Fulham Road. It has been acclaimed as the best place to go, WHENEVER!

Vingt Quatre is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day! It has been designed to satisfy the needs of those who have 'difficult' working hours, hangover students, dating lovers and tipsy people who get the munchies. The best part is that it works.

Contrary to popular belief, a 24 hour restaurant does not necessarily have to look like an American diner in the middle of nowhere, nor a kebab shop. This place is clean, pretty and the staff is attentive and quick.
Considering I have been there early, way too early, like 2AM I can safely say my hamburger was delicious and the waiter was quick and kinda funny... witty man considering the time..


The menu is high quality, and although it is not the cheapest, it is not expensive either. I mean, if you can afford to go for drinks around the area, you can definitely afford a night-time snack at Vingt Quatre. The variety is amazing, with salads and burgers, fish and chips and tasty deserts and all sorts of drinks.

Be warned, there is a bouncer outside in the night time so don't even think of showing up too drunk. The alcohol is quite expensive, but again, if you can afford it you will love it.

Five and Nine Clubhouse E2, Secret Rooftop

This beautiful venue located in the heart of East London is the trendy spot in London at the moment.

The rooftop, which is in front of a church, is unique and stylish, with elements that create a sense of being in a very peaceful, yet groovy sitting area.

Feel free to snug next to the fire, while contemplating the first 'Living Wall'. A work of art created by Patrick Blanc. The wall is filled with plants and flowers that grow vertically. Giving the impression of modernism and nature all in one.

The Five and Nine Clubhouse in Shoreditch has already been shortlisted for the 2011 International Bar & Club Awards. One of the reasons is its uniqueness and the ability to adapt for its clients.
The staff will definitely fulfill all of your needs while you relax and enjoy an evening of decadence in this fairy garden.

The Shape of Things To Come: New Sculpture

The Saatchi Gallery is hosting an exhibition about New Sculpture.
Because I believe art is relative, I will tell you what it is about and then you can go and see it for yourselves, because it is very very cool.

The Shape of Things to Come features artists from all around the world. The exhibition has been running since May and it is finished on the 16th of October, so buy a ticket and go, because it is worth it.

My favourite artist is David Batchelor, who creates sculptures with very unusual elements. He calls them 'Material Leftovers' and it is just objects he finds on the streets of London. When I read that I found it extremely original, at least someone is recycling and it actually looks cool. Not that I'm against it, but recycled stuff always looks and smells funky..

He is not the only one showcasing work, but definitely he is the most colourful one!

Fall's Favourites

The summer is slowly coming to an end. As we prepare to put away swimsuits and shorts, we open the door to new trends, new colour schemes, and definitely new weather.

This fall apparently it's all a bit more glamorous. The colder weather gives us the opportunity to wear more layers, more accessories, but always remember to stay true to your style. Living in London makes it easier for everybody to explore different trends, to mix, to create.

I read somewhere that this fall is all about skirts, shorts are no more apparently. So, instead of posting pictures of skirts, I found more suitable things that can always be combined with them.

Also, most of the items in this section are from shops located in Angel, Islington, however there are some exceptions.

The first item on the list is a top with birds on a wire. How cute is that? Pair it with a skirt and nice pumps for the daytime or change to killer heels for a more 'innocent but sexy' look.

The next three items are dresses. A fall without dresses is zero, that's why I had to find a few that were colourful, with nice retro prints and a retro shape. That wasn't tough, they are everywhere. Topshop has them in different colours and patterns, but the shape is always the same. Look for other high street options such as New Look, River Island and Miss Selfridge until you find the perfect dress.

Last of all are the accessories, and this time I chose bags. Like dresses, fall makes it perfect to try out vintage styles and raw colours. Whether you prefer clutches, totes, or just massive bags, there is always an option out there. You can't go wrong with leather, just make sure your pieces are always clean and that the leather is in good condition. You want a vintage look, not a homeless look.

As you can see, fashion is more and more fun everyday. It is more open and full of options. Remember to follow the trends, but stick to what suits you and what is adequate to your personality.
Scarfs are also big, go to any vintage shop and buy a few, they tend to be very cheap and their colourful patterns willyour the outfit that extra kick.. Wear it in your hair, around your neck, or as a belt.. use your imagination!!

Goswell Cafe and its Funky Art

Have u ever come across a place where pound coins are glued to the table to trick you, or where you can pick up books and read bizarre literature while Boy George stares at you like a chameleon?
If you said yes to any of the above, then we have both been to the same place. Let the magic begin.
The Goswell Cafe is the hot spot for City University students and trendy peeps living around the Old Street area. The Cafe also functions as a library, source for free Internet and a great place to read and relax while enjoying the artwork.
The place is a must see for anybody walking past the area. Their toasted sandwiches are to die for and their drink selection is great, from organic cola to delicious smoothies...

It is amazing the kind of treasures one can get for less than 30 pounds. I bought this book called Taschen's London, and it is pretty much a 'guide' to the best Hotels, Restaurants and Shops.

Starting with restaurants and jumping through categories, this literary treasure has reviews on everything from Nobu, Notting Hill Brasserie, Liberty of London and even Marylebone's Farmer's Market. The chapters are separated by neighbourhood to make it easier for foreign readers to locate the best of the best.
With beautiful pictures, maps, prices and recommendations, this book makes the essential coffee table book.

Little Angel Theatre, a piece of Heaven..

I remember my field trips from school were always really boring. Museums, exhibitions, blablablah I hated it. I hated having to go out 'to learn'. So, the other day I had an epiphany, when I was walking my dog and saw all these 4 year olds coming out of a little house next to my local park. I thought OMG, they are on a FIELD TRIP!!! but where? what is this house and how come I had never noticed it before?

Well, the little house turns out to be The Little Angel Theatre, a place were dreams, puppets and children come together. This place is considered a hidden gem in Angel, technically because it is very well hidden on a little passage that only a few locals know about.
The theatre started functioning in 1961, and its main purpose is to entertain and make people of all ages happy. Their current show is called 'The Magicians Daughter' and although it is recommended for ages 3 to 6, I will go and watch it.

I found out that they are also having a summer party on Saturday 9th July. Everybody is invited and there will be tons of fun activities for bothkids and grown ups. First a parade of puppets, followed by tours of the theatre and tons of workshops. The entry is FREE and everybody is welcome to come!

Some of the theatre's future opening shows include the ever so popular Pinocchio, Aladdin and Gingerbread Man.


If you are an adult and think that puppets are silly, try again because the Theatre knows how to cater for everybody. There is Adult Evening Puppetry Courses, where people learn from scratch the art of being a puppeteer.

Entry on Friday is 5 pounds for kids and adults.
So, what are you waiting for? Take someone for a night at the Little Angel Theatre and I guarantee it will be a very fun night!

The Museum of Brands

I love the Museum of Brands. I know it might not be on most tour guides, but it is a MUST if ever in London.

Located in the heart of Notting Hill, the museum features brands and their packaging, posters and adverts. The museum is run by Robert Opie, a collector, who saw the potential of collecting multiple things in order to tell a story.
The Museum of Brands makes its visitors aware of the history of marketing and consumer culture; demonstrating that in the same way brands change, we change with them and viceversa.


Their current exhibitions are:

'Packaging a Sustainable Future', which features the story of recycled materials and how packaging has evolved through history.

Another current exhibition is 'Spring Wartime Gardening Guide', which talks about how back in WWII, the use of meagre resources was required due to the lack of labour and other resources.


I always find these kind of places interesting. Unlike an average museum, this place gives visitors a chance to see history through a different perspective, the perspective of Tetrapak or TinCans.

The Albion and all of its Greatness..

There is nothing better than finding a good summer pub. A pub with a nice-looking terrace, a seasonal menu and sufficient pitchers for Pimm's. I hate when they run out, trust me, it happens..
Being a proud citizen of the borough of Islington, I am happy to promote local places. This time I chose the Albion.

The Albion is a hidden gem in Islington. It is extremely old, yet beautiful. This pub is so popular it has already won the Observer Food Monthly Award in 2009 and made the cut for the Guardian's 'Best pubs in the UK' list.

What makes the Albion special is its food to share. I love big portions, so if you are going out as a family or with a big group of friends or relatives, the Albion is definitely the place to go.
Also, its terrace makes the perfect spot to hang out on a sunny summer's day. Trust me, it is like a fairy tale.

Souvenir Fashion.

London is a huge city, full of wonderful entertainment that satisfies even the most demanding of tourists. From great museums to musicals and great nightlife, London has Everything to offer. It's no surprise that the centre is always crowded with tourists, let's face it, people love it!

Well, I recently discovered that our beloved tourists have a huge advantage: Souvenir Fashion.
What does 'Souvenir Fashion' means?
